The 200-hour curriculum offers a contemporary approach to the study, theory and application of traditional and classical Hatha Yoga, as taught in the Kripalu Yoga tradition.

The program provides a traditional curriculum and course of study. The course fulfills all of the required curriculum and standards of the National Yoga Alliance. In addition to meeting these standards, Maya will also work closely with each student to enhance their experience throughout the training by offering independent study along with the group work. The program also emphasizes immersing ones self into a daily yoga, pranayama, and meditation practice.

Anyone interested in yoga may enroll. However, if you have not done yoga, you will be required to take a minimum of six months of yoga classes to prepare for the course and a verbal entrance exam as well as write and essay explaining why you wish to teach yoga.

You are required to attend all hours of the training, as well as attend and document 20 yoga classes, from the start day to the end day of the program, when all requirements must be fulfilled.

The texts required for the program include:
Heart of Yoga
by T. K Desikchar
Light on Yoga
by B.K. S. Iyengar
Kripalu Yoga: A Guide to Practice On and Off the Mat by Richard Faulds+

Please purchase the three books and bring them with you the first day of the training.  Get them through our online store.

There will be a practicum, so you have the experience of teaching in a supported environment. There are also reading assignments, journaling, sharing circles, partner work, projects and a final exam.

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are awarded a certificate at the 200-hour Level and are then eligible to list their name in the National Yoga Alliance Registry of Yoga Teachers.
