Cristin Tighe (Simran Kaur), RYT, offers Radiant Child Yoga Program training and Yoga4Teens training.She is certified to teach Kundalini Yoga through the Kundalini Research Institute’s International Teacher Training program. She has extensive experience working with children, including certifications through Itsy Bitsy Yoga™, Next Generation Yoga, Samarya Center for Integrated Movement Therapy, Yoga Ed.™, Y.O.G.A. for Youth, Yoga4Teens™. She's worked with underprivileged kids, and taught 6th graders during intensive week-long environmental programs at a CA outdoor school. She also has advanced training in Conscious Pregnancy and Relax & Renew Restorative Yoga. Christy Brock completed the Advanced Studies Program at Rodney Yee's Piedmont Yoga Studio in California and has studied at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Institute in India. She has extensive experience teaching yoga to teens in studios, schools and summer camps. Jodi Komitor
received the gift of Yoga from her parents while in her teens. With a long-held interest in teaching, she earned a Bachelor in Special Education from NYU, and a Masters in Learning Disabilities from Teachers College, Columbia University. She spent six years in the elementary classroom, teaching special needs children. Her enthusiasm towards yoga with children evolved when studying with her first teacher, Sonia Sumar of Yoga for the Special Child™. In 1998, Jodi founded Next Generation Yoga™; the first children’s yoga studio in the world. Her warm-hearted, playful style of teaching is inspired both by her personal yoga interests and practical experiences in the field of education. Jodi takes kids yoga into schools, yoga studios, children’s programs and hospitals, and teaches and certifies children’s yoga instructors She wrote The Complete Idiot's Guide to Yoga with Kids, and has been featured in numerous publications. She has completed a 300-hour adult yoga certification with the American Yoga Academy; however, she claims that children are her best teachers.


Krishna Kaur
, born and raised in Los Angeles, has been teaching the art and science of Kundalini Yoga since 1970. Prior to dedicating herself to practicing and teaching yoga, Krishna Kaur had a very successful career in the theater. She co-starred in the original Broadway hit, “Sweet Charity” with Gwen Verdon, in Jean Genet’s, “The Blacks” with Lou Gossett Jr., and others. She is certified by 3HO Foundation and the Kundalini Research Institute as a Kundalini Yoga Teacher and Trainer.  She opened The Kundalini Yoga Center on 53rd Street and Broadway in Los Angeles in 1971. For the past eleven years, She's taught yoga to urban and incarcerated youth. She founded Yoga for Youth and now trains yoga teachers how to more effectively expose “urban” teens to the ancient art and science of yoga.She is President and founding member of the International Association of Black Yoga Teachers, which is dedicated to supporting black yoga teachers and making Yoga more available to Inner Cities communities through out the Diaspora. She is currently training students in Ghana where IABYT is a registered non-profit organization.

Robin Appel (Arula), RYT-500, received her 500 hour certification with Yoga Alliance. She’s a Yoga Ed.™ Trainer, Sport Yoga™ Instructor, AMFT Pilates Instructor/Personal Trainer, ISSA Youth Fitness Trainer, Usui Reiki Master/Teacher and Chakra Healer. She took her first yoga class at age eight while she was training to become a professional dancer. She performed for many years with George Balanchine's New York City Ballet Company, but her career ended early because of a hip injury. To recover yoga and Pilates became a vigorous part of her daily physical therapy. She began teaching yoga and Pilates in 1999, passing on the knowledge she had learned. Robin is dedicated to empowering her students to be able to make healthy decisions by becoming yoga-educated. She offer Yoga Ed. trainings at Spiral Flight, usually twice a year.

Shakta Kaur Khalsa has been a yoga teacher for almost 30 years. She is an IKYTA certified Kundalini Yoga instructor and teacher trainer, an AMS certified Montessori educator, and a RYT-500 member of Yoga Alliance. Shakta is an internationally recognized teacher of yoga for both adults and children, and conducts teacher-training for children's yoga called the Radiant Child Yoga Program™. She has authored several books including the Keep it Simple Series Guide to Yoga and Yoga for Women. See www.childrensyoga.com.


Sonia Sumar
started teaching yoga for children with special needs after the birth of her second daughter Roberta, in 1970. Roberta was born with Down Syndrome, a Genetic disorder characterized by mental retardation and other developmental delays. The changes Sonia saw in Roberta lead her to attend a Yoga Teacher Training program in 1972. With inspiration from Sri Swami Sivananda, and his disciple Swami Nadabramananda, she built her own yoga practice, and eventually, in 1980, opened her own Yoga Center in Brazil called "Nucleo Cultural Sivananda;" it is now called the Integral Yoga Center of Belo Horizonte, and is headed by her daughter Renata. Yoga for the Special Child had spread so much that Sonia was receiving many invitations to give conferences at Yoga Congress as well as workshops in Brazil and other parts of South America and Europe. Sonia's life dream is to help the world's special children to achieve their full potential and become active and productive members of society. She holds a Bachelor Degree in Education and taught elementary school. She has conducted workshops and addressed special education programs and symposia. In 2001, Sonia opened the National Headquarters for Yoga for the Special Child, Satchidananda Yoga Center in IL. She continues to teach children and adults and offers specialized training courses to yoga teachers and other professionals who wish to learn her methods.


Teddi Barenholtz
is a physical therapist with 25 years of experience and currently works in early intervention therapy in Fairfield County, Connecticut. She is registered with the Yoga Alliance at the 500-hour level and has a private practice Yogabilitation. She blends yoga with traditional physical therapy in her practice with children with special needs. Teddi is a certified  Kundalini Yoga and Integrative Yoga Teacher and Therapist, and has completed training as a YogaKids and Radiant Child facilitator. Teddi has also completed level 1 & 2 with Sonya Sumar’s Yoga for Special Needs. Teddi is trained in sensory integration and varied therapy techniques for working with Autism, PDD, cerebral palsy and developmental delays. She gives workshops in the Radiant Child Yoga Program and Yoga for Special Needs.
