Q.  Why should I get a Massage?
A.  Benefits of massage and bodywork are many. It provides relief to people from all walks of life - from a super-busy parent or competitive athlete to the home gardener or the overstressed executive struggling to keep on top, in today's fast paced environment. Students, office workers and waitresses - anyone can benefit from a session of massage or bodywork.

Q.  What should I do to prepare for my massage?
A.  Prior to your massage, hydrate by drinking water to make your massage more enjoyable. Dehydrated tissue is harder to work with and is less comfortable for you, the client.

Q.  What should I expect to experience after the massage?
A.  Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness and greater productivity which can last for days. Since toxins are released from your soft tissues, it is recommended you drink at least 2-3 glasses of water (or juice) following massage therapy. It is possible to be sore after a session, especially if it is your first time or you are not properly hydrated. Proper stretching after massage is helpful to maintain the increased flexibility you will experience.

Q.  Are there any medical conditions that would make massage therapy or bodywork inadvisable?
A.  Yes, there are medical conditions that would rule out massage therapy. If you have any concerns, please discuss it with your therapist when you make the appointment  In addition, the therapist will discuss your health and medical history with you when you come in for your treatment. While some conditions absolutely rule out massage, it is far more common that we will simply need to make a few modifications as to how we work to respond to a condition. If you have any conditions that would make massage unwise, or would make it necessary to modify your massage, your therapist will work through this with you. Your best health is our ultimate goal.

Q.  How often should I come for massage?
A.  You and your therapist will discuss a treatment plan that is appropriate for your goals and dependent on what you are trying to achieve through the therapy. The effects of massage -- improved circulation, relaxation, muscular release -- are yours every time you get a massage. The closer your appointments are to each other, the longer the effects last. However, even if you come once, you still receive those benefits. That’s certainly better than never! Your massage schedule is always going to be governed by your schedule and your budget. Get it when you can and enjoy it.
