Prenatal Hatha Yoga - Prepare your mind and body for one of life's greatest adventures! Join other women in an uplifting, peaceful environment. Learn specific techniques, from an experienced prenatal yoga teacher, to increase your stamina, tone your muscles & relax your mind. Conscious Pregnancy© Yoga (prenatal) - Come for a dynamic yoga experience that involves poses, breathwork, and some beautiful chanting. You will experience and learn some great dynamic, breath-oriented warm-ups, the best poses for yoga, and a variety of yogic techniques that you can use to manage a changing body, connect more with your baby, and ease a physically demanding labor. Itsy Bitsy Yoga®-Babies (newborn to almost crawling w/adult) incorporates poses in which babies are primarily on their backs, on their tummies, or in their parents' arms. All of the gentle poses taught are designed to help soothe and encourage physical and mental development. These classes also provide the important time all parents need to bond with their babies and to engage with their children's developing personalities.
Itsy Bitsy Yoga®-Tots (almost crawling to 24 months w/adult) caters to more active tots, with poses done while little ones are sitting up, standing, walking, and even jumping. If you have an "almost crawler" who loves to explore and has already moved into a busier, more exploratory phase, this is a great class. There is still plenty of opportunity for parent/child bonding, and more advanced poses and games help develop children's creativity and body confidence.
Itsy Bitsy Yoga®-Tykes (2-4 yrs w/adult) is a fun and gentle developmentally-centered program, including poses, rhymes and activitities that provide nurturing bonding between parent and child. We provide a playful, structured atmosphere for you and your toddler to introduce them to yoga and all its benefits. See your child learn to move their body and use their mind in new ways like pushing up on their hands, lifting their head and limbs off the ground when on their tummies (like swimming), balancing on one foot and learning to jump. We use age-appropriate songs, toys, stories and games to engage your child, develop social interaction, and build the foundation for a healthy, active lifestyle in the future. You will not only strengthen the parent/child bond, but will also learn many activities that can keep you connected on a daily basis.
Tummy Time™ Yoga: Infant movement in the first year of life... (6 wks through walking w/adult) - the way a baby moves is a delightful and progressive sequence reflecting their development. The reflexes, rolling over, sitting up, and crawling all lay the groundwork for walking, speech and social interaction. (Incomplete development or interruption of this sequencing can lead to chronic physical and emotional problems, even learning difficulties that can compound through life.) Your child's first year is enhanced when these milestones are encouraged and reinforced in a friendly and educational class environment using play and touch. The class presents material based on the babies' needs, starting with basics of comfort (warmth, feeding, handling). Following weeks include demonstrations of the reflexes and development (flexion/extension, yield/push, reach/pull, rolling over, coming to sitting, coming to standing) The touching (manipulation) of the infants is very subtle depending on the needs of each child and their development, so it is not too stimulating. This is a friendly and educational environment for parents to learn distinctions to support your baby’s development in this first year... essential for movement for your baby's whole life.
Postpartum Pilates (for two!) (6 wks to walking w/adult) - As a new mom, you are probably finding it difficult to fit time in for yourself to retrain your body. Your body has gone through some pretty amazing changes. You may notice a difference in how you stand and how you move, as well as recognize that you have lost muscle tone and strength in such areas as your abdomen. Now is the best time to tune into those changes and make the adjustments that will help improve your posture, strengthen muscles, and work toward realigning your body to encourage greater flexibility, strength, and fluid movement. Babies are welcome in this class, but you can come without your baby as well. Modifications will be shown to allow moms to integrate their babies into the exercise. Returns in January 2008.
